Let Me Get This Straight…
Brewing behind the war of ereaders is a smaller, though just as profitable battle: etextbook readers.
I have no idea why they need to be separate, except that no one has figured out how to get all of the components for textbooks on to a regular ereader.
So that means…that I’m supposed to carry around 1) a smartphone for calls/texts/music my general life; 2) an ereader for novels; 3) a textbook ereader for the textbooks not available for the regular eReader; and 4) my laptop for when I actually need to work? And if my ereader is actually a Nook or a Kindle, then I might have an iPad for when I need more than an ereader but less than a laptop.
That brings me up to FIVE devices. Are you kidding me??
